Why Can Nobody Help Me To Overcome My Stutter |

This is really starting to annoy me. I have attended various forms of speech and language therapy now for the past twelve years and my speech is as bad as ever. What is going on? Why can nobody help me?
 I have absolutely no idea as to what these speech therapists are being trained when they are studying to become qualified, but when it comes to the area of stammering I can confirm that it is not working.
The speech and language therapists that have been working wih me just seem to have a real lack of comprehension as to what it is like for people who have a stammer. None of them have actually had a stammer themselves which I suppose goes some way to explaining as to why they have struggle to understand people life myself.
I have also visited the local library, I have looked in the yellow pages and last week I even went to see my doctor. So were any of these of benefit to me? No! I becoming increasingly frustrated now.
The above was an exert of my diary when I was aged sixteen. As you can no doubt tell I was starting to feel rather let down with the amount, or lack of it, of help that was available to people like me, people who have a stammer. To make things worse was the overall quality of the therapy that was on offer - it was poor at best.
This article does have a happy ending. I am now able to speak fluently - I managed to achieve fluency fourteen years ago when I was aged twenty-two. I now run The How To Stop Stammering Centre in the UK where I help other people that have a stammer or suffer from stuttering.
